The Bride's Blog

This is where I'll be posting information on all of the events leading up to our wedding. It is also where you can offer me opinions on everything from dresses to colors to flowers and themes! I can't wait to hear from you and hope that you will have just as much fun reading through my posts as I am having writing them!

Will you be our ______?

Jared and I wanted to think of a special way to ask the members of our wedding party to join us on our special day. Now that everyone has been asked, I thought I'd share the end results with you! Each Bridesmaid and the Maids of Honor received the card with a Ring Pop, while the Groomsman received a card with a chocolate cigar or real cigar (age matters!). Our Ring Bearer, Flower girl and Jr. Bridesmaid received something a little different.

The SEARCH is on!

For those of you that know me well, you may remember me growing up in the world of Beauty Pageants. For some of you, reality TV shows such as Toddlers in Tiaras and Honey Boo Boo just popped in to your head... please keep in mind, that these are in fact TV shows and the "reality" they display is far from what I experienced (can you tell that I've had to debate the topic of beauty pageants a lot? lol). Before we go any further, let the record state that I loved pageants and I believe that they gave me confidence; they even equipped me with the ability to be comfortable talking (or singing... or tap dancing...) in front of large groups of people. That aside, pageant life came with some pretty incredible dresses. Having so many gorgeous dresses throughout my life is making choosing "the dress" that much more difficult. I would not be surprised if I have tried on over 100 wedding dresses by now! I have to admit, it is pretty fun, but part of me is hoping for that Say Yes to the Dress moment to happen already! After shopping today, I think my mom and I definitely made some progress... now for the entourage!

Here's to hoping my brother can sit through me trying on dresses! ;)

This is little me! I think I am one on the left side and two and a half on the right. I was trying to find pictures from my last pageant when I was 17, but those are at my parent's house. These are probably cuter anyway.

Engagement Party

Our engagement party has come and gone. The day FLEW by and gave Jared and I a taste of what our wedding day will be like! All of the planning and details for the party came together beautifully. I wanted to take a moment to thank a few people that went above and beyond to help:

1) My incredible Aunt Maria and Uncle Rex who graciously opened up their home to us for our party

2) My dear cousin, Orazio, who baked the world's most delicious Spinccione (after the party, we fought over this bread until the very last piece)

3) My parents who stayed up until the wee hours of Friday night and got up extremely early Saturday to bake and frost and fill and bake some more!

4) My wonderful MaidS of Honor who answered a good 200-300 texts/emails/calls on wording and colors... just wait for this year ladies, the engagement party was just the beginning! So grateful for you both!

5) My amazing brother and his carpentry skills for creating GIANT Jenga. Not only did he cut and sand each block, but he stamped the block with the words, "A Fairytale Wedding"

6) My stunning bridesmaid Brooke, who helped my mom and I frost a good 300-500 cupcakes and got to experience making bombinere (Italian Confetti).

(Fun note: in the pictures below, the dress that I am wearing is the same dress that my mom wore to her and my dad's engagement party 29 years ago. )

To Black Tie or Not To Black Tie

Recently discovered that the spectrum of formal attire has grown to include things like, "creative black tie" and "white tie"... Jared and I have been trying to nail down what we think the attire should be for our wedding and I've decided to turn to this blog and Facebook for opinions on GUEST attire (yes, that means you!).

What you need to know in order to decide: we'll be getting married at a mansion in the evening and kids will be invited.

For those of you who want to read about wedding attire, flip through the article below... I feel like I cannot possibly be the only one who didn't know about the many ways you can dress for a wedding.
